I was driving around with a 401 that I had just bought in the back of my old beater Jeeptruck, when a couple of gearheads with bowtie emblems on their jackets asked me what kind of motor it was.
I told them it was an AMC 401, and they got that look (you know the one) on their face. They asked me in a pretty snooty way if I had a Gremlin or a Pacer, or maybe one of them funny lookin' Javelins with the Corvette copy fenders.
I told them "no, I just inherited a cherry '56 Chev, and I just wanted to upgrade the engine." You should have seen 'em, they were just stunned speechless.
