I'm trying to change the front springs on my gremlin but the former owner welded these l brackets that are proving to be a "PITA" but thankfully Mini Mike lent me an AMC specific spring puller so as soon as I hear from him on how to use it I should be done and able to make it over speed bumps without smashing the bottum of my headers :-)

Well, Adkins Freshened the 430 i had in the POS.
a little more cyl. head work, New springs, and retainers, new cam and lifters (Hey it has stick cam now) and going from a 1050 to a 1150. supose to get dynoed next tuesday..
Lets see if it does better now with the cam Barry picked for my stick car..
However Hemmy built that for the Hornet when i was running a 727..
anyway it used to make 744.9... I'll be curius to see how much it picks up.
Then i also have a BA. Indy engine i Hope to be getting soon for the Hornet, it will be mated to a Liberty 5 spd Manual Trans..
And Matt and I are putting him together a Spirit out of spare parts laying about, and a few parts people were nice enough to donate to the cause.
I'm Hoping for the Little Spirit to run 10.5's (hopefully)
Lots of spending i shouldnt be doing. But what the heck. Depending on the economy we may not do a bunch of racing this year, but at least we will have the cars to do it with..

hey bart, I made a spring compressor for my hornet. it's basically a two foot piece of 3/4 inch all thread rod, with the bottom mount plate from a shock absorber welded on to it, and a piece of 3/8 plate , torched to fit the top spring tower studs. I just nut the shock mount plate to the spring perch, drop the top flame cut hunk of shit over the rod onto the spring tower studs, grease up the threads, drop four or five greased up washers down the rod, and then thread a 3/4 nut down the rod against the washers. then I tighten it up till it starts to pull the upper a arm up, take the bolts holding the spring perch to the upper a arm off, take the bolts holding the upper a arm to the chassis out, and swing the suspension out of the way. loosen up on the homemade spring compressor nut untill the spring is out. it's a safe easy way to take your springs out....I guess it's too late to help you now though, but maybe someone else can use that info sometime.
