Heres my beater...

Postby tubbedamx on Sun Dec 30, 2007 9:05 am

Heres some pics of the amx...Older runs from last year.

This year I took out the 4.11's and put in 4.56's which helped me realize my valve springs were junk. My original springs were 1.45 diameter with maybe 100lbs closed and 200 open. A co-worker of mine races stock eliminator he had a new set of comp 999 springs, a digital spring compressor and all the other tools to put them in. If I remember right these springs were 1.56 diameter which meant I had to get new spring cups, locks and retainers. On his recomdation I got Isky super 7's. All I can say is my pussy fingers were sore as hell buy the time we were done. Between the spring comressor and the height mique. We ended up just using the main spring, not using the inners. They measured at are @ 190 to 200lbs closed and 450 to 470 open. I was suprised how that changed the motor sound and how it changed the track times.

I think now its time for a set of ported heads and a single plane intake. I'm surprised you don't see any ported iron heads for sale...guys going over to aluminum. Idealy I would like to trade some of my stuff for a set of heads that flowed 270 to 280 but thats not likely to happen. So I need to start saving some money...

So heres some pics from last year with old springs and 4.11s
I don't know who put this video on youtube but I think it was from a race last june. That was a hotter than hell weekend staying over 100 most of the day.

Deer meat chili is really good!!! What else do you put in your chile?? I made elk steaks last weekend and have an elk roast thawing out for tommorow night.

The vacuum pump I bought at a local "Top Sportsman racer" going out of business garage sale. I got a 3-vane moroso, vacuum breaker, all 12an lines, catch canister/breather, fittings and pulley for 250$. I had a bracket made out of aluminum plate with steel thread inserts and then used the moroso bracket that comes on the back of the pump. Its bolted to the 3 holes in the cylinder head. I have a 2-groove crank pulley using the outer pulley for the vacuum pump. Its turning 1:1 with the engine.

I went to a test n tune...ran consistent 2 tenths quicker. pulled the belt and went 2 tenths slower. The vacuum breaker is set to open at 10 inches.

To bad all you guys live so far away....You're all invited to come over for beer, ribs and home made smoked salsa. Not to mention greybeards baked beans.

They had a neighbor hunting party the night before opening day of? Well I got invited and had Caribou, beer, Bear, beer and I believe Elk, and more beer. Yes Caribou was pretty dark. Very moist and sweet as candy. I ate a ton of it. Damn it was good, and Awesome!
