So WTF are you guys talking about on frannys site??

I have the milodon single line pan/kit on the 390. I have the single line attached to the milled piece between the timing chain cover and oil filter. Honestly, I haven't laid eyes on it for awhile, I've had a couple beers and a little sleep deprived so I can't picture what your talking about.

Whats all this talk about 534 and 533??? And starving the engine for oil???

ahh nuthin. I was slappin jeepers nuts around some. he was sayin the AMC block feed was resrictive cuz it's only about .625 big. I was sayin well jeez, your baaad ass sandwich plates have a .520 hole in the fitting you hafta screw in them, so why aren't they restrictive? and he sez some shit like well ya hafta drill em out to .625, then they flow better than a milodon plate yadda yadda. and then he sez his new 534 outflows the "out of date"533 and I'm sayin why? it has the same .520 hole in the fitting as the old 533 plate. he's so fulla shit it ain't funny with his dumfuck claims. he sez his shit outflows milodons and everyone elses,I sez well where's the test numbers. Oh well if he trades me a new 534 plate for the old 533 I have i'm good with his bullshit. I wish I wooda bought the milodon setup instead of the kit randy g sold me. The indy pickup is nice, but the bulltear 533 plate is a waste of money. read the thread again and maybe it'll make more sense.

That 534 plate looks like a real nice piece, especially the updated version.
But, if for the money the Milodon piece is just as good, and comes in a convenient kit, then that is the way I would go.

When i bought the milodon kit years back ... I had to redrill the sandwich plate, as 2 of the small oil holes were not lined up with the housing or the oil filter plate..
In other words... use a oilpump gasket to ake sure the holes are in the correct location. as i did call milodon back then, and mentioned the problem, and they were offended that someone would call to mention that they should recheck what they are selling.. no quality control there..
and there oilpan is a piece of crap for the money they charge for it as well.. but at least it does bolt to the block..
I have so far bought 2 Indy pans, and both of them needed 5 holes worked on to get it to bolt to a amc block,, again that sucks when those suckers were over 500 each..
so far the Canton pan is the nicest Quality oilpan i have ever bought!
for what ever all this is worth! :)

I don't use a sandwich plate on the Machine...I use a oil pump cover made for remote filters...my line from the pan goes into a hole in the block...I can't remember how big we made it...maybe 5/8's

yeah I decided to drill the block at that boss instead of using a sandwich plate. seems like a simpler, cleaner setup. also should keep the pump from drying out and not pulling a prime. anyone wanna buy a bulltear sandwich plate? i didn't think so

What boss on the block? Where did you drill the pump? I'm lost.

there's a round cylindrical boss made on the block, just behind the pump, even with the oil pan surface. bubblebiter bullqueer calls it the master dowell hole. it's the boss you drill and tap for the second oil line in a milodon dual line setup.

I went out and looked at an old block/cover/adaptor today. I see what you're doing now. How the hell can it be that no one ever thought of if before? Geez, Spud, you might be the next BA.
I don't see how you would ever need two lines if you have a single .620" i.d. line feeding the pump. Is it ok to bore and radius the passages inside the filter adaptor?

well actually I didn't think of that ,it's way old school. the first time I seen it done was on the 70 penske /traco trans am engine. the milodon dual line setup uses that to. it's not too hard to do, and yes, i blended and radiused the passage pretty thoroughly. I even used the timing cover gasket as a pattern and gasket matched the hole to the cover. I screwed a straight #12to1/2 pipe adapter into it,used a 90 degree #12 hose end to go rearward, turned the 90 degree bulkhead adapter that screws into the pan/ pickup facing forward level, used a 45 degree hose end on that aimed upward , and had a short section of hose that ran just under the motor mount. it fit my hornet chassis, and it's extremely tight in this area. the sandwich plate was gonna require a friggin hideous mess of hose ran over the top of the motor mount and in front of the starter. this way I was a whole lot happier with the routing. and not having a sandwich plate too.

as far as oil filter relocation, not for me. i don't see the need in it. i just use a jeep oil pump cover, and smooth the passages out some. some folks say well you can use brand x filters on the relocation kits, uhh big shit. It ain't like I cant buy a case of wix 52258's for 3.50 a filter. i ain't dumpin all the time trouble and money in a filter relocation setup when the stock shit has always done a fine job. I garantee if you look at my setup you're gonna be bored shitless cuz if I can use stock amc, i use it. The milodon pan and swinging pickup In my opinion is basic drag race stuff that I feel is needed at my level of performance. I don't like oil pressure drops when hitting the brakes.
and yes, hopefully I'll have my car together, running, tuned and ready to go in a couple weeks, at least I sure hope so. I do plan on making lufkin. if my new setup works like I hope it will, I should bust into the 10's
