Street sleeper.....

Postby Anonymous on Mon Dec 31, 2007 6:50 pm

Here's the Javelin I'm going to play with this year on the street, and some strip. It's currently a 290/BW, but is getting the 401/T-10 that came out of the Donohue. I'm just switching the drivetrain, no body work, paint, nothin'. The drag only car is fun, but I've been wanting something to drive on the street for a long time.

 hee hee I started ripping the 290 out of my beater javelin the other day.{after it passed inspection} and am putting my old race 401 with a richmond five speed for grocery getting/ street harrassment duty. it oughta be fun. maybe catch some powertour action this summer. who knows. I can drive it to the racetrack this spring since it looks like my racecar is gonna be scuttled for a while.

Thinking about it, but the whitewalls gotta go !! I know they'll make me take them off at the track, but on the street, they'll hide the long studs in the rear. The best thing will be pulling up to the pump and having it filled with plain 'ol regular.

dude that is a decent straight javelin. I'd hit it with the hose and wax and that thing would be nicer than any of my junk. good score.

It has the typical rust issues in the 1/4's, but that'll add to the sleeper image.

The car has a pretty cool history. Fran bought it from the original owner, who drove it across the country TWICE. He gave me the file she gave him. It's about two inches thick, with EVERY thing the car ever had done while she owned it. It's pretty cool seeing how much stuff cost back then.

Yup, but it's getting a Ford 9" as well. All this stuff is out of the wrecked car.

big drag must be bizzy workin on his rod cuz I ain't seen him around lately. Well this weekend I gutted the 290 and toploader out of my street machine and got the 401 back in it. I'll be fitting the richmond five gear in next weekend. we're probably gonna have a hard time makin these javelins sound like sleepers. It's also kinda hard to make em look like sleepers too. I guess I could find some hub caps. those are getting kinda hard to find these days too.
