well I guess it will be tuned to some degree anyways. the 750 hp worked well out of the box. I just did some idle adjustments, and the jetting looked pretty good. I hope the 830 hp works as well. I was having some idle inconsistancy, idle speed varied some today. the 830 has a lot of idle air, since all four throttle blades has a 3/16 hole in them, so it'll be a different tune altogether at idle. the 830 sez it's a nascar carb on the box. I hope I didn't screw up ordering it. it has the same downleg booster as the 750, and it seems to work. I think soon I will redo the fuel supply system to a bypass system. I'm not real confident what I currently have is working right. It will deliver plenty of fuel, but the pressure is unsteady. or my gauge sucks or maybe both I dunno. One of my fuel pumps was leaking from the weephole, and that is unrepairable, so I think i'm just gonna go to a better pump and return system . I also need to get a crankcase evacuator pump, and that will be worth some power too.

yaknow you can never have too many carbs on the shelf. I have a carb that big, It's a C&S AEROSOL rated at something like 950. I COULD NOT MAKE IT WORK on my old motor. I guess I could try it on this one, but... I really hate the damn thing. I got no faith in it now. I don't even wanna say how much $$$moolah I paid for it. but hey, if i ever get that bypass fuel supply on there, it might be worth a try. the C&S carb simply would not atomize fuel on my old motor. I think I didn't have near enough motor for it. it does look cool though. but when I tried it, hell, I slowed down a bunch, and it spit and sputtered and ran like ass.

I agree on going to a bigger carb.

That 750HP is basically nothing but a good ol fashion 650DP, if that. A buddy ran a 650DP on his 350 Chebby in the low 11s. He got his hands on a 750 HP and not a damn bit of dif in the 1/4 with all the tuning in the world. His 650 still had the damn choke plate in it even. lol

awe shit. well ken parkman did some testing on carbs and I was sure this 750 hp would be better than my 750 edelbrock. maybe I wasn't reading it right. I read it again and it was 3310 vac sec 780's and a newer 3310 750 vac sec carb that flowed good. oh well, I hope this 830 carb will do something. I bought the 750 for the old race motor, now street motor. anyone wanna make any predictions on what my performance might be with the 830 hp holley?

well i just bought an 830... but its a 830 hp.... and according to that shit a regular double pump 830 is an 830 cfm carb, but a 830 hp is like a 750. wtf? i'm not sure about that stuff. if it's true i ran 10.7 on a holley hp rated at 750, which they say is really a 650 cfm carb. 10.7's on a 650? i guess thats pretty good. anyways tommorrow night i'm going to test and tune to try this 830. fuck it oughta go faster.

Fairy Grant's shit is rated the same or close to the same as the HPs. But the quailty in his materials is better.

I wouldn't use an Edelcock cept for a cruiser.

Can't wait to hear how the bigger carb works for ya.

i went to test and tune once, a while back, with my old engine setup, my edelbrock 750, and a BG 750 dp, the kind with the choke on it, I forget what it was called. anyways after i ran the edelbrock a few runs, we swapped on the bg carb. it idled better, but had a flat spot just off idle, which we couldn't tune out no matter what we tried. It didn't hurt performance since I idle the engine at 2000 rpm then stomp it when leaving. the two carbs showed absolutely no difference in times/speeds. but the bg did idle better. I was measuring throttle plates and venturies on different carbs tonite. I have a 750 dp regular holley, and it has the same throttle plate size as the 830 hp. the venturies on the 750 dp are like 1.30 inch, the venturies on the 830 hp are like 1.55. I also have that C&S carb, it has some big holes in it. I forget how big now. jeeez I gotta write shit down
