If it was me, I'd liston to a expert like ssAMX3002... he has been there done that, and also does it every day! Last i remember his **class car** SS/B went 9.04... But that is just my thinking.

speaking of those steering wheels. My 70 AMX friends here locally, tell me that if you have a nice rim blow wheel on your car, you should take it off and bring it in the house during the winter time so it wont crack any worse then it already might be.

well way back when, i found the forums great entertainment.I do not consider myself an authority on anything, but I have my share of experience screwin around with cars, and amc's in general. and I admit, I got a bang out of trying to know something, and help folks, or at least try. but thats kind of a trap. there is no telling how folks will take your replies. I know some folks thought I was just a stupidass cuz I intentionally had a stupid name. when I wanted some genuine information about something, I would pm folks that i trusted or believed had a clue. that would keep all the jerkoffs from chippin their fucked up 2 cents in and screwin it all up. but that was before the dickweeds took over the farm. before the bursaw episode... all before it was politically uncorrect to crack a joke or have a thought. but yup i can for shore see how the real mentors in the amc performance phenomenon would rather stay away from all the aggravating, embarrassing bullshit thats gonna get dumped on them. I'd say its a shame, but hey fuckit. I'd rather just know their mailing address or e-mail and hope I'm not buggin em by askin a genuine question and getting their honest take on things. I'm happier being a lurker who can watch and not stir shit up. It's a bunch better that way cuz it's the best way for me to bite my tongue

Oh Spud, I am also no expert by a long shot, nor do i claim to be.. Kinda like you, i have been there done a lot fo different stuff. Some worked, some got me by, and a few others just wasnt worth a fuck..
Now dont get me wrong, i cna build a pretty good amc, or sbc engine. But im also talking up to around 500 h/p (amc anyways)... So the pros (engine builders) can make alot more power then me, and the engines aren't time bombs waiting to blow up.. that is why i have Hemmi or Barry build the big h/p engines for my car(s). my 1st experience with a Engine builder was HL. and while i didnt have him build a engine for me, I did take a set of virgin casting 291's to port and set up for me in my R/W/B spirit years ago. the 401 shortblock i put them on ran very well *almost* 1 whole season. (60) pass's... #61 pass on the engine, it dropped a valve, opps a valve liner fell into the cumbustion chamber and made a intact valve contact a piston. when i removed the head for repair at my local Hot rod machinist, 3 other liners fell out when they were checking it out.. when i picke dit up, he sugested i pull the valves out of th eother head before i went racing again. well 4 liners fell out of that head when i removed valves.. thats when i went with the indy sr's..
the engine i just pulled out of the pos had a total of 162 pass's on it.
2 years in service. nothing wrong with it this year. Just time for a new set of rolle rlifters, and maybe a small cam upgrade. Did i mention last time out it went 9.37. Lifes Great!

Well my good man, thats what a feller would call EXPERIENCE, and I don't give a fuck how smart a wet behind the ears kid thinks he is, EXPERIENCE is what gives a man knowledge and in time makes him an authority in his feild. and in turn, those who are just trying out the trail should listen to the experienced scouts who have been there and done that and got the scars to prove it! and ol hermy is what he is I reckon...there's machinsts, good machinists, and folks who wish they was machinists. some haves a bad minute, somes has a bad day, and somes makes a life outa it.
